Re: Secondary Complications

It's been a long time since I've been on here. So, now that I've been seeing specialists for the past 7-8 months, here's what I found out.

I have a lot of symptoms of vasculitis. To be more exact, there's a suspicion about a particular one that is very uncommon... Weneger's Granulomatosis. I've had a lot of symptoms of thalassemia and had no idea that some of them are related to vasculitis. Anybody heard of this? I'm now seeing a nephrologist to get specifics very soon.

Re: Secondary Complications

Several years ago I was diagnosed with alpha thalassemia trait.

Last fall I found out my vitamin D25 level was low. I was put on vitamin D supplements, but my body does not regulate vitamin D properly. This is sometimes due to granulomas producing the more potent form of vitamin d outside the kidneys. I am still working with the doctors to figure things out.

I find it interesting that you have been diagnosed with Wegener's Granulomatosis and have alpha thalassemia trait. I don't think I have Wegener's, but I think I have some sort of granuloma disease that is wreaking havoc. I have no idea if there is any connection.
