Hi everyone,
I am so new to this all and have been learning quite a bit now.
I am a 26 year old half Italian and a bit of Irish too male!! :)
There are a range of things I dont understand.
I was told I have Alpha Thalassemia Trait. After doing a haemoglobin test. So if anyone can help me with the following.
I want to know if this would reduce your life span at all?
I want to know how can they tell if its Beta Thal, or Alpha Thal?
How do I know I don't have sickel cell problem? Would they see that?
What does it mean if my HB A is 85.4%? Isnt that low?
Anyway,
My results came out the following:
HB A 85.4%
HB A2 3.0%
HB F: 0.8%
My MCV was 78
and My HB was 15 g/dl
I dont know what my HBS or anything like that was, the report didnt have any of that on it.
Lastly, my head has changed shape over the years, I have had several prominent bumps show up. I donno if thats parranoid. But could this cause a problem? Like have an effect on the brain?
