Well, in London THE place for Thalassaemia Major is:
The Whittington Hospital
Highgate Hill
Archway
London N19 5NF
Whittington NHS Trust Website: Home
You can call the hospital and ask to be put through to Emma Prescott, the Thalassaemia Nurse Specialist or Carol at the Thalassaemia Unit. At the moment the unit is located in Mercer's Ward but will soon (hopefully) be moving to our own Ward.
The doctor is Charge is Dr. F. Shah (female) and you can also asked to be put throught to her PA when calling the hospital.
I wouldn't like to post their email addresses here but people who want to email either Emma or Doctor Shah, can contact me. (It's not the best way of contacting them though)
However, Intermediate Thals might want to call the University College Hospital (closest tube station: Warren Street on Northern Line).
I also know people are getting transfused at St. Thomas's Hospital (closest tube station: Westminster on a few lines)

In Edinburgh, I was receiving blood at the Royal Infirmary and I proudly say I was the only patient in the Hospital. I think there was another Thal patient in one of the other hospital in the whole of Edinburgh. The treatment was good regarding they don't have any expertise on Thalassaemia, but they worked very closely with the Thal experts in London.
Note: You might have to be referred through a GP (General Practitioner - and you can sign up for free in any local surgery) in Scotland before you can get blood.
