Meenal,

Stem Cell therapy is still in research phase. It is too too early to say anything positive or negative.

Stem cells from cord-blood and autologous stem cells are two strategies that are under research with respect to heamoglobinopathies.

Re: help please !

Dear Minal,
What Vik has stated is absolutely correct.
It is in a very premitive and trial phase.
Country like India will take a long time to adopt. It will be wise on our part to wait for official launch of EXJADE some time in July next year to effectively manage and control iron excess in the heart and the liver without bothering about the latest technologies available. This is the ideal thinking one can ever think of advising Indian thals in particular.
May God bless you.

Re: help please !

Hi, I am agree with Vik and Vamanjani's statement. But I believe the stem gene therapy for thalassemia will became helpful tendancy, of course it need researchers will dedicate to large energy, time and more money. So we have to wait for that date comes, now we could do only thing for thalassemia patients that encourge them to transfuse and chelate iron actively.
