Combined iron chelation EXJADE -Ferriprox

Hi folks,

after many clinical trials the benefit of combined iron chelation is known. Does anyone heared about a combined treatment of Ferriprox and Exjade?

Is there any upcoming trial somewhere?

Please let me know. Thank you

Bernstein

Exjade should not be combined with any other chelator as stated by Novartis.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

Re: Combined iron chelation EXJADE -Ferriprox

There have been report of combined intake of chelators by some patients in the US (Children's Hospital Oakland - has started a study on a controlled group) and Greece. Although, they have been using Exjade (Also called Asunra or Desirox) AND Desferal.

My answers in online forums are for information only & are not intended to substitute for medical advice. Please see your personal health care provider(doctor) for further evaluation of your individual case.

Yes, I know about clinical trials with Deferoxamin (Desferal) and Desirox (Exjade), and also about the initial well tolerate trials with Ferriprox (Deferiprone or Kelfa) and Desferal.

At least I have read about an alternating use of Ferriprox and Exjade in two individuals. But is there also known or planed an clinical trial a combination between the both oral chelators?
