hi

my 15yr bro is an thalaessemia major with high ferratin % where we r using asunra tablets but had no proper results and have several side effects. we are planning for stemcell transplations and need our kind suggestions of doctors in southindia..

The best thing to do is control the ferritin level. There are some good doctor's in South India (Vellore, Tamilnadu) at CMC like Mammen Chandy but I think they too might NOT entertain a person with high ferritin levels.

If Asunra is having side effects and it NOT working, there is an option to use Desferal (It is an injection and is tough to take it but has saved thousands of lives) and Kelfer (oral tablet similar to Asunra).

Also, Stem Cell Transplantation is difficult and you might want to consider it thorougly. Your brother would need a HLA match before the transplant. Does he have a match?
