'Good Answers'

Hey all of you here at Thalforum. Wats up...... . Visiting this site after a long time.

There is a question which came to my mind last night.....You know like many of the Thal Patients look very young according to their age. Many are short as well....So the people like Neighbours, where thals work or may be someother place people meet thals and tend to ask a question....'WHY ARE YOU SO SHORT? or WHY DO YOU LOOK SMALL?'.....

What will be your answer will you explain the person that you are a thal or you will give some other answer......?

Please do share your experiance if it has happend in the past. With those it has not happened they also post by chance if it happens in the future......

I have been through this n still goin through it. in the past i use to keep quite n just smile when i was asked such kinda question. but now if anyone does it i just say Tell me somthing I dont Know.....thats it...and the person keeps shut........

Although I am not suggesting that one should keep their condition secret, replying to the person asking why you look so small by saying it's because of the Thalassaemia, to me it sounds as if you're victimising yourself. First of all someone who asks such daft question can not be taken seriously. I know people who are short and petite and do not have any health conditions.

I would revert to humor and maybe say something: "Wrong question, I choose geography as my next subject!@

TRUE! there are lot of people that are interested more in finding out whats up with others than dealing with their own issues.

People will be people.. while some will take things seriously while others will laugh and make a joke about it. I'd say it depends who you are talking to - for instance with friends and relatives - i'd more open and clear as compared to talking to someone i barely know or someone I just met.

I think TomK is right in a way... you could revert to humour or if you find it too objectionable you could politely ask the other person to mind their own business .
