Please remember never think of splenectomy till it starts malfunctioning, the symptoms are requirement of blood transfusion goes up that means Spleen is not differentiating between good/bad RBC simply suppressing RBC's passing through Spleen.so Hb% is nonmanageable& then splenectomy.

Ralf is right about PENTIDS taking care of infection.In this 3rd generation medicines ERA even pentids not required.Any infection can be taken care.
